ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: ALLISON MERTZ
What did you like most about the Club?
The Club was the first place where I truly recognized my own potential—both to create meaningful change and to give back to my community. That spirit of service has guided me throughout my life and helped me discover my passion. I’m also deeply grateful for the people and staff who shaped my experience; the Club became a second family to me, and it remains one to this day!
Which programs did you participate in?
I was fortunate enough to have participated in many Club programs—the ones that I still remember are Triple Play, Fine Arts, Power Hour, Money Matters, SMART Girls, Torch Club, PROUD, What’s Hip, Keystone, and Youth of the Year. All of these programs were vital in making me who I am today, from financial literacy and public speaking to a passion for service to my community.
What have you been up to since graduating from high school?
After graduating from high school, I attended ASU’s Barrett, the Honors College, where I double-majored in Marketing and Family & Human Development. I then joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, working full-time at both the Thunderbirds Branch and in Administrative Services. Today, I’m proud to serve as the Community Engagement Manager at Fiesta Sports Foundation! I still get to be involved with the Club as the Fiesta Sports Foundation and Boys & Girls Club missions are closely aligned.
