Chef Fidencio and Chef Pierce from The Maggiore Group Christen Newly Renovated Teen Kitchen at Virginia G. Piper Boys & Girls Club, Funded by loanDepot

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale (BGCS) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the newly renovated and expanded teen center kitchen at the Virginia G. Piper Branch. The kitchen, now named The Piper Teen Yum Hub powered by loanDepot, was unveiled on Tuesday, July 25.

Thanks to the generous contribution from loanDepot through its 2021-2022 “Home Means Everything” RBI campaign with Major League Baseball, BGCS was able to complete a much-needed renovation and expansion of the teen kitchen space. The previous kitchen, which had remained untouched since its construction in 1991, was in desperate need of modernization.

The renovation project included demolishing the old kitchen and creating a larger, more functional space to support vital healthy lifestyle programming. Upgrades to The Piper Teen Yum Hub include new flooring, ceiling, drywall, and electrical updates. Additionally, the kitchen features new state-of-the-art appliances and cabinets, providing a contemporary and efficient environment for Club teens to engage in cooking and healthy lifestyle programming. Teens will utilize the new kitchen daily for snack bar sales, culinary activities, and educational initiatives.

To celebrate the momentous occasion a ribbon-cutting ceremony and cooking demonstration was held with Chef Fidencio Alastriste, Executive Chef of the Mexicano, and Chef Pierce Azlin, Maggiore Group Culinary Director. The two chefs guided the teens through the art of making empanadas.
