Donor Spotlight: Q&A With Marianne Guenther

How did you become involved with BGCS?
I originally became acquainted with the BGCS through a work project about 15 years ago. Since that time, learning just exactly how the Clubs support all types of youth in our communities, I’ve been all in!

What motivates you to support BGCS?
It’s all about the kids, they are who motivates me. They have limitless potential and anything I can do to support an organization like BGCS, helping them do what they do by providing the services and opportunities to these youth, I’ll do.  I appreciate that the Clubs provide services to such a wide range of ages for our youth and to a wide range of youth from different backgrounds, across all ways to define ones way of living…each youth coming through our doors, regardless of who they are, what they come from, their circumstances, need us in their own way. This openness and way of being welcoming is special and I’ll do my best each day to foster it.

Of the programs and services your gifts support, which are most important to you?
I don’t have a most important aspect or service that the Clubs provide. It’s the special mix of sports, tutoring, STEM, arts, leadership and mentorship that makes it work together as a solid foundation where youth and teens look forward to spending their time after school and during Summers.

What are you most excited about as you look to the future of the organization?
I am most looking forward to hearing new, additional stories from Club kids on how they were able to reach their full potential. And some of those new stories are going to come from having the organization’s newest branch, the Steve & Maria Sanghi Tonalea Middle School Boys & Girls Club, open next year!
