Kyla Silas, the 2017 Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Youth of the Year and 2016 – 2017 Peach Springs Branch Youth of the Year, was recently crowned Miss Indian Arizona State University 2018-2019.
Kyla was also selected from 400 Native American applicants to go to Washington D.C., and New York City for the prestigious Cultural Preservation and Leadership Development program this July. As part of the program, Kyla will visit Capitol Hill and meet Representatives and Native Staffers, meet Natives who live, work and study in Washington D.C., lobby and advocate on Native issues and participate in cultural arts workshops designed to promote resiliency and healing.

The Hilton Family Teen Center at the Thunderbirds Branch opened its doors in 2018 giving Thunderbirds teens their own space with a separate entrance. The brand new teen center offers teen services to members in grades 7-12. The new facility offers a games room, homework room, fitness center, teen lounge and kitchen. Teen programs are uniquely developed based on the needs and interests of the members that come through our doors. Field trips, events and programs are created to benefit teenage youth and help them grow socially and academically, while still keeping a focus on fun.

Dustin is a junior at Basis Scottsdale. He has been a club member for 11 years. When he graduates high school, he plans to attend Duke University to study sports entrepreneurship.
The Sal Cosenza Teen Center at the Piper Branch is free to all Club members from 7th to 12th grade (with a current $25 annual membership). Teen Center staff offer homework support, formal and informal mentoring and guidance, and a variety of programs designed to help each member achieve academic success, learn good character and citizenship and develop healthy lifestyles.
Named after a longtime supporter of youth services in the Scottsdale area, the Virginia G. Piper Branch opened in Scottsdale Ranch in 1991. In December 2010 construction began to renovate the Piper Branch which now offers a full service Teen Center that opened in May 2011.
