Alumni Spotlight: Alain Martinez
What did you like most about the club?
What I liked most about Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale was all the activities and friendships I was able to build over the years. Coming from Mexico at a very young age, we were not very privileged to join sports teams, get school supplies, or travel. Once I joined the club, they provided many opportunities for that, and I am forever grateful!
In which programs did you participate?
I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in nearly every program the Club has offered, and if there wasn’t a program for something we were passionate about, the staff went out of their way to create one, as long as enough of us were interested! From Keystone and LIT to the ART program, summer specialized programming, and even the Hip Hop team, I’ve been a part of it all.
What have you been up to since graduating from high school?
I didn’t quite make the NBA cut, but I stayed competitive and found my lane in the business world. I’m the founder and leader of a sales firm based in Cleveland, Ohio, with a footprint that has expanded into Kansas and Michigan. When I’m not driving growth for the team, I’m a full-time dad to a wired Fox Terrier who keeps me on my toes. Weekends, you’ll find me competing in a local basketball league.
